I.E.D. Field
I.E.D. Field (2006) is a project that aimed to create a simulated environment that was “embedded” with Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) that was in turn tied directly to the current loss of life in Iraq. The work makes usage of a ceiling mounted camera that looks to detect motion within areas that have been singled out to be the location of IEDs. When a person occupies an IED area it triggers an explosion on screen, along with the audible sound of an explosion and advances through the tally of names of those who have already died from IEDs in the current Iraq war.
