Untitled-(CPT)
CPT, technically not its title since I have yet to title it, started as an editing and film making experiment. The project would document the ride on the Green Line Antelope Valley Metrolink line, starting at Union Station in Los Angeles and ending in Newhall. I would take a picture at the maximum interval of the still camera I was carrying on the trip. The images would be assembled to create a time lapse of sort. This would be divided into four sets of stills, basically being number 1-2-3-4-1 and so forth. Initially the sets would be played back individually, then after this there would be combinations of the sets for example 1-3, 2-3, 1-4, 1-2-4, that would move construct new assemblages that would eventually end with all the individual frames being played at once and end.
Just before I carried out this experiment my car had suffered an electrical fire and it was subsequently rendered inoperable. So, the return to taking the train was not only part of this experiment but also a necessity as a means of commuting. Having done field recording of my car previously I decided upon using it for the audio, only playing it when there was no image on screen. Therefore, starting from a full cycle of the audio from the car to eventually complete silence when the footage from the train has completely taken over.
Note the video has a large amount of black at the beginning before any images are seen.
